Natalie Portman's dad upset over lesbian role

Hollywood actress Natalie Portman's role as a lesbian ballerina in Black Swan has generated plenty of Oscar buzz, but has soured her relations with her father.

The Israeli-origin actress shot some explicit sex scenes for the movie and her relations with her father, Avner Hershlag, have become frosty ever since, reported Daily Mail online.

The 29-year-old actress has previously turned down roles, including Lolita, which she considered too explicit, but she was determined to take on the role of troubled prima ballerina Nina in Black Swan.

"Natalie is a very private person and is often influenced by her father's approval. This, however, was one role she simply didn't want to turn down even though she knew it would upset her father," said a source close to the Closer actress.

He still sees her as his baby and always will and thinks showing herself like this is degrading.

Portman is the only child of her parents and they are often seen with her at her film premieres.

"Things are very frosty between them right now," added the source.
